Sergio Cammariere

Sergio Cammariere, born 40
years ago in Italy, in the Southern town of Crotone, stands out in the
Italian musical panorama. A sound-track composer, a refined pianist
and an enthralling interpreter, Cammariere finds inspiration both in
classical and South American music. Jazz had a great influence on him,
and artists like Art Tatum, Bill Evans and Keith Jarret have left
their mark on him, especially in their free approach to the piano and
composition.
In 1997 Cammariere gained the attention of the musical press with his
participation in the 'Premio Tenco' competition a significant award in
the Italian music field. The first few notes of his performance were
sufficient to bring his artistic depth to light and the Jury
unanimously awarded him with the "Premio IMAIE", for Best Performer
and Interpreter of the event, thus crowning him as the revelation of
the year.
The lively interest his figure has aroused and expectations for his
new album have led to the publication of 'Tempo Perduto', a
promotional CD written in collaboration with Roberto Kunstler. It
contains three evocative pieces that synthesise Cammariere's
impeccable taste and feel for musical equilibrium.
Cammariere's music expresses our innermost feelings in a place we have
only imagined; it is a perception that echoes in our memories and in
the sweet and melancholic notes of the piano; it is a connection with
the past where nothing is essential but everything is important.
